MANILA, Philippines -- "The Gangnam Show," the first concert in the Philippines of South Korean superstar Psy, will be held for the benefit of the survivors of the deadliest typhoon to hit the country this year.
Psy had requested the local promoter of his concert to have part of its earnings as proceeds for charitable organizations.
"Actually sa dinami-dami ng artists namin, na nadadala dito sa Philippines, isa siya sa nag-request na dapat may proceeds o may beneficiary," concert producer Joed Serrano told ABS-CBN News during a recent press conference for "The Gangnam Show."
"Matulunging tao 'to. So na-surprise kami. Napakabait, para maisip niya 'yun 'di ba," he added.
According to Serrano, the concert, which will be held on December 20 at the SM Mall of Asia Open Grounds, initially had Ciara Marie Foundation as its beneficiary.
"Nung dumating itong victims ng recent typhoon, part of the proceeds ibibigay namin doon," Serrano said, referring to Typhoon Pablo, which recently devastated parts of Mindanao.
The amount of damage brought by the typhoon has reached P14 billion. It has claimed over 700 lives. Eight hunrded ninety remain missing.
'Sexy lady' Anne
Meanwhile, local celebrities who have likewise called for relief efforts in light of the recent calamity, are joining Psy on December 20.
Serrano was thrilled to announced the part of several Filipino stars in the concert.
Joining Psy at "The Gangnam Show" are prized Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis, "Comedy Queen" Ai Ai delas Alas, dancer-host Vhong Navarro, comedian Chocoleit, comedienne Pokwang, comedienne-singer K Brosas, comedy duo Wally and Jose, and Nora Aunor impersonator Ate Gay.
"Minsan lang po 'to. For the very first time, ganito karaming Filipino celebrities," Serrano told ABS-CBN News. "Kasi si Psy, komedyante at performer, at 'yung mga guests natin [ganoon din]."
"At 'yung sexy lady si Anne Curtis. Si Ai Ai din lalaban sa sexy lady na 'yun," he added.
