MANILA, Philippines -- Operations of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 have been restored after a power supply problem suspended operations Saturday morning.
LRT Authority (LRTA) Spokesperson Hernando Cabrera said LRT-2 was unable to start its operations at 5 a.m. after a power transformer caught fire in its train depot at Santolan station at around 1 a.m.
Because of lack of power supply, they were not able to transport the trains to the LRT-2 tracks at 3 a.m.
He said it was only at 7 a.m. that they were able to find a power source for the transportation of the trains.
Train operations were restored at the LRT-2 from Santolan to Recto at 8:37 a.m.
LRTA said the cause of the fire has yet to be determined. Investigations are still ongoing. -- Report from Dennis Datu, dzMM
