MANILA, Philippines - Finance Secretary Cesar Purisima does not see the need to amend the Constitution or remove its restrictions on foreign ownership in some industries.

While American economist Nouriel Roubini says foreign ownership liberalization would help attract more investors, Purisima says the government needs more time to study the possible amendment.

The Finance chief says there are conflicting views among the private sector.

Purisima adds government is focused on how to give the country more flexibility to attract and accommodate investments from overseas. - ANC
