MANILA, Philippines – Two carjackers took off with a sports utility vehicle in Malate, Manila on Wednesday evening.

Police said the unidentified armed suspects forced themselves into the black Mitsubishi Montero (PKO 500) of John Robert San Juan along Estrada Street at around 8 p.m.

San Juan, his girlfriend and another female friend, were then tied up at the back of the SUV.

From Manila, the suspects dropped the victims off in Parañaque after a one-hour drive.

The suspects supposedly tried to molest the female victims, but decided against it after seeing some bystanders.

After being abandoned by the suspects, the victims called their relatives and went to the Manila Police District's anti-carnapping unit to report the incident.

Authorities are now on alert for the stolen black SUV. – report from Noel Alamar, dzMM
