MANILA – Actress Meryll Soriano came to the defense of her father, Willie Revillame, amid rumors that the television lost millions while playing in a casino.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Soriano said people should not judge Revillame on how he wants to spend his money because he earned them the hard way.
“Kasi ‘di ba, whatever he does with his life, it’s his prerogative. He has worked hard for everything, for his wealth. So whatever he wants to do with that, we don’t have any right to judge or to say something bad about it because it’s his money,” she said.
Asked if it is true that Revillame has been spending a lot of time in casinos, Soriano said: “I have no idea, I have heard about it but I really don’t know. I honestly don’t know about it.”
“It’s his hard work. I really believe that bakit natin panghihimasukan ang buhay niya, pera niya yun,” she added.
Soriano also expressed reservation on rumors that Revillame is now selling some of his properties because he currently does not have a TV program.
“I doubt na binebenta niya dahil wala siyang work. Maybe it’s business. We cannot naman make speculations on that because we don’t know what’s happening. It’s not out in the open. I don’t really know as well. Wala din akong personal knowledge about it,” she said.
Soriano said she has not seen her father that much recently because he has been traveling.
“I haven’t seen him for a long time kasi he’s been traveling. I think bored na siya because my father naman really loves working. I hope he gets a new show because that’s what he loves to do, to entertain people,” she said.
