FEU survives UP scare in men's volleyball [1]

MANILA – Far Easter University (FEU) avoided an upset after prevailing against University of the Philippines (UP) in the 75th UAAP men’s volleyball on Thursday.

According to UAAP Sports [12], the defending champions needed five sets to dispose of a determined Maroon squad, 25-22, 25-27, 25-19, 23-25, 15-9.

Tamaraws head coach George Pascua kept his starting lineup on the bench after seeing UP tie the game 1-1.

He later released players Ronald Tonquin, Karl dela Calzada, Arvin Avila, Alexis Faytaren, John Depamaylo and Pitrus de Ocampo to close out the Maroons in the deciding fifth set.

FEU improved its record to 11-2 and will face No. 1 team National University (12-1) on Sunday.

UP, on the other hand, slipped to 2-11.
