[11]MANILA, Philippines - Andrew Tan's liquor company Emperador Distillers Inc. is hoping to dominate the world's brandy market in the next five years.
"We hope to have 33 percent of the world’s brandy market within five years. In that time, out of three bottles of brandy sold on this planet, one bottle will be Emperador. We are rapidly pursuing our international expansion and we expect to sell Emperador to more countries," Jorge Domecq, managing director of Emperador International Ltd. said, in a statement.
Emperador, a subsidiary of Alliance Global Group Inc., sold 31 million cases of brand in 2012. Its brands include Emperador Brandy, Emperador Light and The BaR flavored alcoholic drinks.
Domecq said Emperador will soon be bottled in different parts of the world, including Spain.
"Spain will eventually account for 25 percent of our Emperador production. We will continue to build Emperador as a strong global brand," he said.
Last month, Emperador said it is acquiring Spanish brandy company Bodega San Bruno S.A.
The deal includes the San Bruno trademark, which has been registered since 1942, as well as vineyards in Jerez, Spain and an sizeable inventory of high-quality and well-matured brandy.
