MANILA, Philippines – Senatorial candidate Jamby Madrigal on Wednesday admitted to holding a contest on social networking sites Twitter and Facebook.
Madrigal, who belongs in the Liberal Party-led coalition "Team PNoy", said she is willing to subject herself to an investigation by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) over the contest.
Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes earlier said that a certain senatorial candidate, whom he refused to name, violated election rules by holding the online contest.
"It will fall under illegal campaigning. Pwedeng pwede sya madisqualify," he said on Tuesday.
In the game, contestants are asked to complete the statement: "Corruption is bad because...?"
The promo, which was removed from Madrigal's official Facebook account as of 4 pm Tuesday, said a person can win a free iPad if they "like" Jamby's Facebook fan page. - report from Jon Ibanez, dzMM
