New UAAP rule draws flak from players, fans [1]

MANILA, Philippines – The University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) drew the ire of players and fans alike Tuesday night when it was revealed that the league changed their residency rules for high school transferees.

Reuben Terrado of Spin.ph [12] reported that the association approved an amendment to its rule regarding high school students who transfer to another UAAP school in college. 

Starting this season, high school players from UAAP schools who decide to transfer to another UAAP school for college will have to sit out two years in residency, instead of just one year.

One player who will be affected by the amended rule is Far Eastern University's Jerie Pingoy, the UAAP juniors Most Valuable Player who is considering a transfer to the Ateneo de Manila University, home of the reigning five-peat champions Blue Eagles.
