Texters, Elasto Painters renew rivalry
MANILA, Philippines – Rain or Shine will be meeting Talk 'N Text for the first time since their battle for the PBA Philippine Cup title.
But unlike their best-of-7 title series wherein they were swept in 4 games, the Elasto Painters seem to have the upper hand in the ongoing PBA Commissioner's Cup.
“It will be a tough challenge for us because they haven’t missed a beat since last conference while we have been struggling,” said Talk ‘N Text coach Norman Black in the official PBA website.
Except for their opening-game loss to Alaska, Rain or Shine streaked for a 5-win run with their 7’3” import Bruno Sundov.
The Tropang Texters, on the other hand, are still trying to find their groove with returning import Donnell Harvey.
“We will just try to take another step to catch up with the leaders. The key for us is to have good transition and three-point defense especially after their post-ups for their import,” Black said.
Talk ‘N Text is expected to lean on Rabeh Al-Hussaini, who led the Texters with 19 points for a 101-98 victory over the Barako Bull last Saturday.
Larry Fonacier, Jimmy Alapag, and Ranidel de Ocampo are also expected to add scoring boost when they take on the Elasto Painters on Wednesday’s main game.
