GlobalPort taps Baculi as new coach

MANILA, Philippines – Former Barako Bull coach Junel Baculi will be taking over the reins of the GlobalPort Batang Pier in the coming PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

According to the league website, GlobalPort has announced that Baculi will be assume coaching duties, while interim coach Glenn Capacio will become his assistant.

GlobalPort official Erick Arejola said they plan to improve the team’s roster before the Commissioner’s Cup opens on February 8.

“We want some improvement in both our front court and back court,” he said.

GlobalPort also eyes the acquisition of NBA veteran Justin Williams as their import for the coming conference.

The 6’10” center previously worked for the Sacramento Kings and the Houston Rockets.

GlobalPort won only one game in 14 starts during its PBA debut in the Philippine Cup.
