MANILA, Philippines – Cuban boxer Guillermo Rigondeaux is willing to undergo random drug testing for a chance to fight Nonito Donaire.

According to Gary Hyde, Rigondeaux’s manager, his boxer has undergone Olympic drug tests and will have no problem passing future tests.

Rigondeaux, the reigning World Boxing Association (WBA) super bantamweight champion, is a two-time Olympic gold medalist in boxing.

“In relation to Donaire’s demands for Olympic style testing, I can confirm that we have no problem with this form of testing and Rigo is very familiar with it as he won Olympic Gold in 2000 and 2004. He spent his entire amateur career submitting to random Olympic style testing,” Hyde said in a letter addressed to Boxing Scene’s Ryan Maquiñana.

Rigondeaux is among the leading candidates to fight World Boxing Organization (WBO) and RING Magazine champion Donaire.

Hyde also quashed speculations alleging that Rigondeaux is working with former performance enhancing drugs (PED) distributor Angel Hernandez.

“It would seem that there are some rumors circulating that Rigo[ndeaux] is being trained by people outside our team. This is all they are, DJ Montanocordoba has been doing a stellar job with Rigondeaux as has Jorge Rubio. Apparently someone has been speaking to boxing writers by claiming to be a member of team Rigondeaux and have been sowing the seeds of these rumors,” he said.
