Viloria, Nietes to defend titles in Pasay City
MANILA, Philippines – Filipino boxing champions Brian “The Hawaiian Punch” Viloria and Donnie “Ahas” Nietes are set to defend their titles on their home turf this month.
Viloria, the International Boxing Federation (IBF) light flyweight champion, will go against Colombian Carlos Tamara on January 23 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
Viloria has 26 wins (with 15 knockouts) and 2 losses while Tamara has 20 wins (with 14 KOs) and 4 losses.
Nietes, meanwhile, got a new foe for his 4th title defense, according to PhilBoxing.com. The World Boxing Organization minimumweight champion was slated to clash with Ivan “Polito” Meneses from Mexico but the boxer pulled out from the fight.
He (25-1-3, with 14 KOs) will now face another Mexican, Jesus “Negrito” Silvestre (15-1, with 12 KOs).
