PhilSCA ready to host SCUAA-NCR in 2014

MANILA, Philippines – Philippine State College of Aeronautics (PhilSCA) president Dr. Bernard R. Ramirez is confident PhilSCA is ready to host the State Colleges and Universities Athletics Association – National Capital Region (SCUAA-NCR) next year.

The hosting of the sports event will coincide with the charter day of PhilSCA. According to PhilSCA Sports Unit Department head Ms. Gigi Abalos-Manaog, a bowling tournament open to all officials of SCUAA-NCR will kick off the event.

Meanwhile, the 25th edition of the SCUAA-NCR will be on January 14-18 at the Philippine Normal University in Manila, with the theme “Keeping the Solidarity Flame Alive for 25 Years and Beyond.”

All eyes will be on the PhilSCA Iron Eagles, especially in the fields of arnis, table tennis and swimming, which are sports disciplines they have dominated in the past. The basketball and volleyball teams of PhilSCA are also raring to go.

“Gagawin namin ang aming best para sa school,” said volleyball player Rodel Racundo.

Other SCUAA-NCR member schools include: Rizal Technological University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Marikina Ploytechnic College, Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology, Technological Univesity of the Philippines, and the Philippine Normal University. -- By Marlon Bernardino
