UFC president Dana White

MANILA, Philippines -- Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White blamed Floyd Mayweather Jr. for ruining what might have been the biggest fight in recent boxing history with Filipino champion Manny Pacquiao.

“I think [Floyd] blew this fight,” White said in a report by 5thRound.com.

“When another fighter starts dictating a drug test, first of all, Pacquiao’s never tested positive for any drug but Floyd’s going to make him go through drug testing? That’s ridiculous,” he said.

White was referring to Mayweather’s demand to have Pacquiao undergo an Olympic-style drug test, which, in effect, sent a message that the Filipino might have been using performance enhancing drugs (PEDs). The demand led to the collapse in the negotiations and the cancellation of the fight.

The UFC chief earlier had a spat with the former pound-for-pound king in 2007 when Mayweather claimed mixed martial arts fighters can’t handle boxing.

White said that like other fight fans, he wants to see the Pacquiao-Mayweather match.

“I want to see this fight. I’m dying to see this fight.”

With regards to Mayweather’s random blood-testing demand, White said Floyd should have left the matter to the athletics commission to decide.

“That’s what the commission is there for,” commented White in another report by Sherdog.com.

“The athletic commission is there for the safety of the fighters. They drug test, they blood test, they do all those other things. For another fighter to be calling out another fighter for some type of blood work is [expletive] crazy. Just [expletive] train for the fight and fight; that’s what everybody wants to see,” he said.

The Pacquiao-Mayweather fight was supposed to take place on March 13. But since it was called off, the Pacquiao camp decided to take on Ghanaian Joshua Clottey on the same fight date.

Mayweather is also reportedly looking for an alternate opponent to compete with the Pacquiao-Clottey bout in Texas.

Former world heavyweight champ Michael Moorer

Moorer speaks out for Pacquiao
Former world heavyweight champion Michael Moorer, who worked with Pacquiao and Freddie Roach for the Ricky Hatton fight, defended the Filipino from allegations he’s been using PEDs.

“Manny Pacquiao has that work ethic that a lot of boxers don't have these days and a lot of people are jealous and a lot of people are trying to make something out of it because they don't know what hard work and dedication is,” the former boxer said in a report by FightHype.com.

Moorer added that Pacquiao has the best chance of finally breaking Mayweather's unbeaten record. Mayweather hasn't lost in 40 fights.

“I haven't been in camp with Floyd Mayweather, but I feel that Manny Pacquiao would give Floyd Mayweather that one loss,” he said.

Pacquiao, the current World Boxing Organization welterweight champ, has 3 losses against 50 wins. But despite the losses, the Filipino is heralded as today’s top pound-for-pound boxer because of his exciting style of fighting.

How about Fedor Emelianenko?

I agree with Dana on this matter. But how about Fedor Emelianenko? Fedor, the number 1 pound for pound MMA fighter in the planet, 30 straight winning streak, who was close on signing up for UFC but said to refuse to due unfair contract issues. hmmn....

Just so happen Dana that UFC has most of the best MMA fighters.

When is the Mayweather Vs Pacquiao Fight

Team Pacquiao blew it too...

Oh please, spare me.. Team Pacquiao blew it too. (I'm not including Manny though, just those moronic greedy team of advisors) Manny should sue Arum, Roach, Koncz, Gacal, etc. also because they have as much to do with Manny's damaged reputation as the Mayweathers and GBP. Everyone in their right minds already knew Floyd Sr. is an idiot who has no credibility to speak of. He was already accusing Pacquiao of using roids way back during the Hatton fight, and back then no one took him seriously and just rolled their eyes at him. No one then even believed him and just ignored him. Then during the negotiations for the Mayweather fight, people started speculating that Manny is on roids when Manny's people started opening their mouths without thinking and giving out conflicting and suspicious statements (i.e. Roach said Manny is afraid of needles when he's got tattoos all over the place, Arum said they'll be okay as long as its still 30 days and if another agency other than the USADA handle the testing then GBP countered agreeing to another agency then all of a sudden we'll let the NSAC decide, etc. etc. just to name a few of those statements shouldn't have been made in the first place).

What Manny's people should have smartly done was shut their mouths and not negotiate in public. They could've just let the Mayweathers and GBP talk all they want and no one would've believed them. If they had just done that, and negotiate behind close doors, none of this crap would've happened. If they didn't want the blood testing, then they should've just said no in the first place and not let the negotiations go any further.

Schaefer said from the beginning that they won't make any public statements until they have a done deal. That was the smartest thing they could've have done but instead both sides did the complete opposite. Negotiating in the public leaves you nothing but a big pile of mess.

@ Christoto

FYI

Mayweather not fighting in Texas for reason you mentioned? Makes no sense man. The use of Xylocaine during fights has been illegal in Nevada since 2004, only if it is used within a week of a fight. It is illegal to use it during the fight. It was banned after Dela Hoya got caught using it against Hopkins the same year. The fight was going to be in Vegas purely because of money. MGM and the other casinos in Vegas offered way more than Jerry Jones.

Don't do your research on Internet boxing forums dude, which is where you probably got your so called "facts". Those forums are full of idiots and wannabes who think they're experts. When this whole drug testing crap came about, everyone all of a sudden are medical experts. When Manny filed his lawsuit, everyone all of a sudden are lawyers.

A real Pinoy and a true Pacman fan

Yes, I will be his fan. I know and trust Pacman and have seen all his fight from the beginning to now and his performance is the same except that advantage of having Freddie Roach and the team to reach their goal through hard training, determination and support. Floyd Mayweather Jr is proven to use drug. This drug thing is BS. Pacman and Floyd has both access to drugs and their is no disadvantages for both. In fact Floyd uses Xylocaine.

In fact, for Pacman to play smart ass with Floyd, Pacman will accept the Olymic drug testing if the fight will happen in Dallas, Texas instead of Vegas then the fight will really be fair. But this time, of course, Floyd can't fight without Xylocaine. Xylocaine is a drug banned in Texas so he will not accept. The drug is just BS trash talk and unlike you I am not dumb to buy this Olympic drama BS.

Floyd Mayweather Sr is a certified convicted rubbish for you to be entertained - that includes Roger and Money. You are an as# hol# to think of this drug test BS.

what if pacquiao uses drug?

will you still be his fan?

It's not yet time

Boxing fans around the world are blaming Pacquiao or Mayweather for the failed fight. I guess its not yet time for them to fight.

comments by teddy atlas

I hope Delahoya and Mayweather (and Teddy Atlas) camps read the comments of Dana White and Moorer. Mayweather lost the opportunity to make 25 to 40 millions! It's his fault! Teddy Atlas, if you happen to read this - - I suggest you should apply for the highest position in the Nevada Boxing Commission. LOL

Floyd is just a piece of s*** why would the Philippine boxing hero answer to him.

mayweathers are gamblers not sportsmen..

they are drug obsessed... they are scared of their own style... if i were manny i will agree to his demand and will also require him to pay me millions if i will be tested negative of all allegations because his demand is outside of the commission. and the ultimate goal is to KO him in the first round. period. COWARD AND BIG MOUTH!!!!
