So settles for another draw in round 3

MANILA, Philippines – Filipino Grand Master (GM) Wesley So settled for a draw once again, this time against German GM Arkadij Naidtisch, in the third round of the 76th Tata Steel Tournament Masters in the Netherlands Monday.

So agreed to a draw after 35 moves of Ruy Lopez Berlin opening using the black pieces.

He now has 2.0 points on account of two draws and a win in the first three rounds of the tournament.

When the two players agreed to a draw, Naiditsch had five pawns and a black bishop, while So had four pawns and a white bishop.

So remains tied for a share of the top spot along with the top-seeded GM Levon Aronian of Armenia, GM Pental Harikrishna of India, GM Fabiano Caruana of Italy, GM Hikaru Nakamura of the United States and GM Anish Giri of the Netherlands. -- By Marlon Bernardino
