Marquez not retiring, may return in April: report
MANILA, Philippines – Mexican legend Juan Manuel Marquez has decided to continue his boxing career and may return to the ring as soon as April 2013, Boxing Scene reported.
Boxing Scene cited sources in Mexico who said “Dinamita” made the decision after a long vacation with his family.
Marquez is coming off the greatest victory of his career, a sixth-round knockout of his Filipino rival Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao.
“A good source indicates that Marquez held a recent meeting with promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions, and they agreed to a ring return in April – either on April 13 or April 20,” Boxing Scene reported.
Potential opponents for Marquez include Jessie Vargas and Vyacheslav Senchenko. No location for the fight has been announced.
Pacquiao is also aiming for a ring return in April, and if the rivals are successful, they may fight for a fifth time in September.
