LAS VEGAS, Nevada – Senator Lito Lapid has extended assistance to boxer ZC Oliveros Gorres in Las Vegas.

Lapid stopped by at the University Medical Center (UMC) in Las Vegas to visit and extend help to Gorres after watching the news about the boxer’s medical condition.

Ang laki pala ng bill niya dun tapos 'di na pala siya pwedeng mag-boxing ulit," said Lapid, chairman of the Senate’s games, amusement and sports committee.

The senator reiterated that he was not politicking in helping Gorres. He assured Gorres’s family that he is also giving the boxer a small business that will help him and his 4 children survive. Boxing is the only source of income for Gorres and his family.

Meanwhile, Gorres’s wife Dachess was pleased that her husband is not only touching the hearts of the Pinoy community but others as well.

Gorres' US visa was extended through March of this year. He is schedule to be released from the UMC after 2 major surgeries.

A concerned Filipino adopted Gorres and his wife until they leave for the Philippines in mid-February.

The boxer still needs a follow-up visit with a neurosurgeon and physical therapy to make sure that there will not be any complications such as infections. Report from Bev Llorente, ABS-CBN North America News Bureau
