Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao has refused to sign the contract that indicated a 52-48 split of revenue of the proposed “superfight” against Britain’s Ricky Hatton, according to the Filipino boxing icon's lawyer Wednesday.

This means the highly-anticipated May 2 match will not push through as planned earlier.

Pacquiao’s lawyer Jeng Gacal, who is heading the Filipino’s camp in the negotiations, said the other side has given them until 6 p.m. Wednesday to sign the 52-48 contract.

Gacal said Hatton’s camp will “pull the plug” if Pacquiao declines to sign the pact.

The lawyer, however, said Pacquiao refused to ink his signature over the dotted line because he thinks the 52-48 offer is not enough.

Pacquiao earlier pushed for a 60-40 split but has indicated he would be agreeable to 55-45.

Top Rank promoter Bob Arum have reportedly said Hatton’s camp is already preparing to hold a press conference Wednesday in London.

“The Hatton people have been very patient. They have told [Golden Boy Promotion’s Richard] Schaefer that tomorrow morning (London Time), they are calling a press conference announcing that they are calling off the fight,” Arum said.

Arum reportedly reiterated that he was able to get Pacquiao a 52-48 revenue split from the original 50-50 deal and had raised the guaranteed purse. “I don’t know what these people want anymore. If it won’t happen, it won’t happen,” he said.

Arum reportedly said if the Hatton fight does not push through, the world’s No.1 pound-for-pound fighter will be back to getting US$2 million-$3 million. The boxing promoter reportedly speculated that Pacquiao might just have to sit out the rest of the year. With a report from Ronnie Nathanielsz
