MANILA, Philippines – The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters will feature a new player when they clash against the San Mig Super Coffee Mixers in Game 1 of their best-of-three quarterfinals series in the PBA Philippine Cup Tuesday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

The Texters acquired versatile forward KG Canaleta from Air21 on Monday, and will also welcome back their injured players.

“With KG’s inclusion and the activation of Kelly Williams and Ryan Reyes and others, it’s almost like we’re playing a different team from a couple of days ago,” San Mig coach Tim Cone said in a PBA.ph report. [http://pba.inquirer.net/39873/mixers-test-new-look-texters]

San Mig, riding a four-game winning streak, routed TNT 100-87 last Friday.

But Cone expects a different Talk ‘N Text team to come out on Tuesday, especially with the addition of Canaleta who is expected to provide additional firepower from beyond the arc.

The Texters also have momentum on their side after crushing top-seed Ginebra, 103-79, in their final game of the elimination round.

“They looked real sharp against Ginebra,” Cone noted.

“We lost three games in a row, and it’s a game where we wanted to gain some confidence and momentum going into the quarters,” TNT head coach Norman Black said of their game against the Kings.

Talk 'N Text finished the elimination round in fourth place with an 8-6 record, while San Mig was fifth with a 7-7 slate.

Cone is expecting all-out war tonight, especially as the Texters are targeting a fourth consecutive Philippine Cup title.

“The first game in a best-of-three is always the important one. We certainly have our work cut out for us,” he said.

Game time is at 8:00 p.m.
