Air21 taps ex-Grizzlies player for Commissioner's Cup
MANILA, Philippines – Air21 Express has acquired a 6-foot-10 former NBA player to spearhead their campaign in the coming PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Ex-Memphis Grizzlies player Michael Dunigan has been practicing with the Express since his arrival in Manila last January 18, according to the PBA’s Snow Badua.
Dunigan has impressed several team mates with his athleticism and strength inside the shaded lane.
“Hanep pumoste, pag pihit niya dunk agad. Ang lakas ng katawan,” said John Wilson. “May shooting din, pero iba
'yung back down, back down, kasi dakdak agad.”
Apart from Memphis, Dunigan has had playing experience with the Hapoel Migdal Jerusalem in Israel’s Basketball Super League and the Perth Wildcats in Australia’s National Basketball League.
Air21 coach Franz Pumaren hopes Dunigan can help the team improve from its quarterfinal finish in the recent PBA Philippine Cup.
The Express are scheduled to tangle with Barako Bull Energy Cola on Thursday in a practice match.
But Dunigan’s real test begins when the PBA Commissioner’s Cup opens on February 8.
