MANILA, Philippines – Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort blasted UFC light heavyweight challenger Chael Sonnen, citing that the trash-talking American is undeserving to be granted the title shot against light heavyweight champ Jon Jones.

Following his one-round trashing of Michael Bisping last Sunday, Belfort launched a scathing verbal assault on Sonnen, calling him a “clown.”

Belfort said he’s the more deserving light heavyweight challenger, not Sonnen.

"I want to get the belt," the Brazilian fight legend said, referring to Jones’ title.

"Take that punk Chael, um, Chael Sonnen -- I don't even know your name -- and get out.”

He said Sonnen should already be satisfied for getting the reality show, The Ultimate Fighter 17 with Jones.

But Belfort believes Sonnen has no business challenging Jones for the title.

“Go home. You did the reality show. Go home and let me fight the real champion. Champion against a champion, not that clown," said Belfort.

The Brazilian fight legend actually had his shot against Jones when he challenged the champion last September.

Belfort nearly submitted Jones with an armbar in the first round. But the champion was able to escape and forced the Brazilian to tap out via a keylock submission move in the fourth round.

Meanwhile, Sonnen has responded to Belfort’s statement.

“I'm going to get rid of Jon Jones. But, you are next. Let me be clear: Vitor, I accept. Don't make any mistake about that," he said in Bleacher Report

"You have called me out twice now, once after I signed a contract to fight Anderson Silva and once when you know I was busy with Jon Jones. I accept.”
