Roach wants Pacquiao to postpone comeback until Sept
MANILA, Philippines – Boxing trainer Freddie Roach said that that if it were up to him, he’d rather have his fighter Manny Pacquiao rest a bit more before returning to the ring.
Roach noted that Pacquiao is coming off a bad knockout and it would probably be wise to hold off his ring comeback until September.
“I want him to wait and rest a bit because that was a bad knockout so I think September would be a better date,” the boxing coach told Sport360.
This was Roach’s reaction to reports about Pacquiao’s comeback fight in April.
However, the coach admitted that Pacquiao has the last say and that all he could do is prepare the Filipino for his next battle.
“If he feels he is ready to fight in April then we’ll get him ready for that,” said the boxing hall-of-famer.
The boxing superstar is planning to fight either in Singapore or Manila although there’s no mention yet about his opponent.
Roach said there’s also a $10-million offer for Pacquiao to fight in Dubai.
