Patriots enter ABL playoffs at the top
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Patriots prevailed over the Brunei Barracudas and held on to the top spot of the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL) standings on Sunday.
According to the ABL website, the Patriots denied the Barracudas a playoff berth when they won, 87-65, at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The No. 1 ABL team with 11 wins and 4 losses (26 points) will see action in the playoffs against Malaysia’s KL Dragons, the No. 4 squad with 7 wins and 8 losses (22 points).
The Patriots and Dragons will clash on Wednesday at the MABA Stadium in Kuala Lumpur and on Sunday at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Former frontrunner and current No. 2 team the Singapore Slingers will take on the No. 3 Satria Muda BritAma of Indonesia to round up the final four playoffs.
The Singapore squad has 10 wins and 5 defeats (25 points) while the Satria Muda BritAma team has 8 wins and 3 losses (23 points).
They will face off at The BritAma Arena in Jakarta on Tuesday and Singapore Indoor Stadium on Saturday.
The Slingers clinched their playoff berth and the No. 2 spot when they defeated the Thailand Tigers, 92-78, at the Nimibutr National Stadium in Bangkok on Sunday.
