'Pacquiao can recover from vicious KO'

MANILA, Philippines – Boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao can still bounce back with a vengeance despite being knocked out cold by Juan Manuel Marquez last December, said a boxing trainer.

Former junior welterweight contender and now boxing coach Ronnie Shields said that despite Pacquiao being stopped at his tracks during his fourth encounter with Marquez, the Filipino boxer didn’t really get a heavy beating in that bout.

“You know, the good thing about it, it was just a one-punch knockout. It’s not like he took a beating,” said Shields in Boxing Scene

Although there are boxers who never recover from such humiliating defeats, there are also fighters who manage to get their killer instincts back.

“I’ve seen guys get knocked out like that before and never be able to come back. But I’ve seen other guys come back from it,” said Shields.

Pacquiao’s knockout defeat to Marquez was his second straight since his controversial decision loss to Timothy Bradley.

But the Filipino boxer is already raring for a comeback, insisting that he’ll fight again this April.

Pacquiao wants an April fight as a prelude to his supposed fifth clash against Marquez in September.
