UST continues B-League winning streak

MANILA, Philippines – The highly favored University of Santo Tomas (UST) seniors billiards team continued its remarkable showing in the second season of the National Collegiate Billiards League (B-League) being held at the Star Billiards Center in Grace Village, Quezon City last Sunday.

The Growling Tigers demolished University of the East, 3-0, Ateneo de Manila University, 3-0, and won by default over University of Makati, 3-0, to hike their total to 25 points.

They are four points clear of the Far Eastern University and Letran College, who both have 21 points in the tournament.

Against UE, Cedric Gonzales defeated CJ Hernandez, 7-3, in the 9-ball tournament; Rodlin John Bautista won by default against Anthony Caubalejo in the 10-ball competition and the pair of Gerthee Estrella and Carlo Cruz also won by default in the 10-ball doubles.

Against Ateneo, Bautista beat Biondi Te, 7-2, in the 10 ball competition. Gonzales won by default in the 9-ball competition and the pair of Estrall and Michael Persorin also won by default in the 10-ball doubles.

FEU, meanwhile, bested AMA 2-1, Ateneo 3-0 and Mapua 2-1, while Letran won by default against UMAK, 3-0, and bested San Beda 3-0 and San Sebastian College 3-0 as well.

In the junior’s division, Claret School lost to St. Paul High School, 1-2, but remain on top of the team standings with 10 points. They are a full point ahead of Xavier, Arellano, Sto. Nino and Pasig Catholic College who each have 9 points. By Marlon Bernardino.
