Baldwin, Bruno Mars thrill Pinoys in Super Bowl
EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey – It was a double victory for Filipinos at Super Bowl XLVIII, as two part-Filipino performers made their mark on the big game.
The Seattle Seahawks Filipino-American wide receiver Doug Baldwin scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter to give his team a 43-8 lead over the Denver Broncos and seal the victory.
Baldwin is the first known football player of Filipino descent to catch a touchdown in Super Bowl history, and Filipinos in Jersey City, New Jersey were quick to show their support to the 25-year-old Seahawk.
Baldwin famously carried the Filipino flag to show his love to the victims of Super Typhoon Yolanda before a game at the Century Link Field last November.
Meanwhile, Filipinos here noted that Grammy Award-winning performer Bruno Mars also scored a touchdown with his energetic performance at the halftime show.
