MANILA, Philippines – Adamson University survived a major scare from University of the East (UE) and posted its closest victory so far, 1-0, on Saturday’s UAAP Season 74 women’s softball tournament.

The Lady Falcons are now 2 wins shy of sweeping the eliminations and repeating as UAAP women’s softball champions.

Rizza Bernardino scored the clincher for the Lady Falcons, who have yet to be beaten in 8 games.

The Lady Falcons will play UST on Wednesday and University of the Philippines (UP) on Saturday.

UP also scored a close win over De La Salle, 6-5, in extra innings, and University of Santo Tomas (UST) defeated Ateneo, 8-2, in the other softball matches.

UP remained in 2nd place with a 7-1 card, while UST has a 4-4 record in 3rd place.

UE dropped to a 3-5 card, Ateneo to 1-7 and De La Salle to 0-8.

“Every game from now is a championship game,” said Lady Falcons coach Ana Santiago.
