MANILA, Philippines – The country’s up and coming Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioners will display their wares on February 23 and 24 when they vie for honors in the 2013 Philippine Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and No Gi Kids International Open at the basement level of SM South Mall in Las Piñas.

“This event gives our aspiring fighters the chance to test what they have learned so far,” said organizing committee member Stephen Kamphius. “The tournament starts the sports lovers at a young age and contributes to the country’s grassroots program.”

The competition starts at 9 a.m.

Recently, Filipino bet Allan Drueco produced an explosive showing in the Abu Dhabi Combat Club (ADCC) Asia-Pacific World Qualifying Trials.

Drueco emerged as the champion in male division last November 4 at the Mall of Asia to represent the Philippines in the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championships in Brazil later this year. -- By Marlon Bernardino
