MANILA, Philippines – LeBron James scored 30 points, Dwyane Wade added 25 and the Miami Heat doused the Toronto Raptors' late-game rally to win their 18th game this season, 95-89.

Miami led by as much as 16 points and were ahead 85-70 midway through the fourth quarter, before Toronto reeled off 12 straight points to come with three, 82-85.

But James drained two free throws and then converted a slam dunk off a steal to give the Heat some breathing room, and the Raptors never threatened from that point.

"We came into this game knowing we wouldn't be able to take any shortcuts and it would be a work game," Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra told NBA.com.

“We would have to work the game for 48 minutes. We knew we would face a lot of zone... We will take this win and move on,” he added.

James added 9 rebounds and two assists to his stat line. DeMar DeRozan led Toronto with 25 points, while Jerryd Bayless and Linas Kleiza each scored 17 markers.

Raptors head coach Dwane Casey said that he liked his team disposition. "I liked the way we approached it. I like the way we competed," he said.

But he lamented his team's turnovers in the third quarter, wherein Toronto gave the ball away eight times, leading to nine Miami points.

Adding to Toronto's woes was the free throw disparity, as Miami attempted 34 free throws and made 29 of them. Toronto shot 15-of-21 from the free throw line.

"I told our guys to keep driving in the first quarter. We are getting there. I think everyone is seeing that we are playing hard, competing on every play and aggressive going to the basket... We will get some of those calls," Casey said.

The Heat improve their record to 18-6, one game behind the Chicago Bulls for the best record in the Eastern Conference. The Raptors fall to 8-17.

Celtics beat Grizzlies for third straight win

Kevin Garnett had his best all-around game of the season, scoring 24 points and hauling down nine rebounds to lead the Boston Celtics in a rout of the Memphis Grizzlies, 98-80.

It was the Celtics' third straight win, and puts them three games above .500 with a 13-10 record. Memphis remains at .500 with a 12-12 slate.

The Celtics thrived in transition, scoring 26 fast break points, a season-high. The Grizzlies turned the bal over 13 times and were out-rebounded 45-38.

"We just played terrible in transition. They go too many opportunities," Memphis guard Mike Conley said. "(Rajon) Rondo pushed the ball and found guys in the open court and was able to get them going early."

The Celtics held the Grizzlies to only 36.8% from the floor and 21% from beyond the arc. Rudy Gay led Memphis with 21 points and seven rebounds.
