LAS VEGAS, Nevada -- New WBO super bantamweight champion Nonito Donaire Jr. has arrived back in Las Vegas from his successful campaign against Wilfredo “Papito” Vazquez in San Antonio, Texas.

His left hand is still in a bandage, but he can now move his fingers.

"It's a lot better, masakit pa rin pero it's getting a lot better," he said.

Donaire said he's been hurt more by the hits coming from outside the ring.

These include statements from an elderly couple in General Santos City who claimed to be his grandparents.

"’Yung sinabi nila na lolo at lola ko raw sa Gensan na gusto nilang matalo ako, hindi ko naman alam kung sino sila. Hindi ko nga alam ang pangalan nila,” Donaire said. “Binanggit ni Rachel ‘yung pangalan, pinanood ko yung video, hindi ko naman sila kilala. Siguro nung bata pa ako, doon kami nagkita, pero wala akong recollection na lolo ko sila at lola ko sila."

"Unfortunately na lumabas ito. I just wish them the best. Kahit ganun ang tingin nila sa akin, with their age they just tend to find peace," he added.

Donaire called on the real members of his family to take up any problems they may have directly with him.

"To my family, sana po kahit na ano mang problema natin, 'wag na lang nating ilalabas. May cell phone naman ako, may cell phone naman kayo, kung ano man yung isasabi ninyo sa akin, sabihin ninyo na lang sa akin. Ako wala akong problema sa inyo. Alam ninyo naman na kahit na anong ginagawa ninyo, hindi pa rin ako nag sasalita ng masama sa inyo," he said.

Donaire is scheduled to fly to Los Angeles, California to have his hand medically examined.

UNLESS DONAIRE MAKE AMENDS TO

UNLESS DONAIRE MAKE AMENDS TO HIS PARENTS AND SIBLINGS, HE WOULD NOT BE LOVED BY FILIPINOS.

It is amazing that Donaire showed again his mettle when he fought and demolished Vasquez. Almost all
Filipinos watched him on television and rejoiced over his victory. His countrymen were happy because it was an honor for their country. But still majority expressed their hatred to Nonito. Do you know why?
Filipino culture is very much different from the American culture. Most Filipinos love their parents and siblings. Ask an OFW why he left the Philippines and almost always, it is for the love of his family. Unlike in the US, here , parents who are well off, even those who are not, support their children even if they are more than 18 years old. As a matter of fact, even if their children are married already, parents normally give their financial support. Well, this is Filipino culture- perhaps this is due to being a poor country. In America, however, at age 18 parents are financially detached with their children as children are supposed to be independent and could support themselves. Donaire was raised in the Philippines when he was growing up but at age 12 (not sure) migrated to the US and became a US citizen. His wife, Rachel, grew up in the US and apparently adapted the American way of life. Surely, she Is a big influence to Donaire’s behavior.
The only way for Donaire to be loved by the Filipino people is to be like Pacquiao who gladly shares his blessing, particularly his earnings, to his parents, siblings, relatives s and the Filipino people in general.
This is the intrinsic Filipino culture, unless he wants to consider himself as a true American. If he wants the adulation of Filipinos everywhere but does not adapt our way of thinking, he is doomed to be disappointed.

@Nes, who are we to judge or

@Nes, who are we to judge or say something about Nonito? We don't know the whole story behind these allegations. We only often hear one side of the story and that's from his relatives. And besides, Nonito is not Pakyaw because Pakyaw can be easily fooled by his fake friends/relatives who are after his money.

Butchoy

And one unfortunate

And one unfortunate embarassing Filipino culture is minding other people's personal business and affairs. Whatever family issues Donaire has or does not have is his and his family's business..

And jeez stop saying Donaire needs to be like Pacquiao. Let him be himself. Whether people like him for who he is or not is subjective. Not everyone likes Pacquiao either. Whatever Donaire does with his money (which he doesn't make that much compared to Pacquiao) is his own business and he is not obligated to share it with anyone else if he doesn't want to. He may be giving out money and support to charities or helped others in his own non-public manner, good for him and it's none of mine or yours' or anyone else's business.
