Lady Falcons a win shy of retaining softball title
MANILA, Philippines -- The Adamson University is now just a win away from retaining the women’s softball title in UAAP 74.
The Lady Falcons scored a methodical 5-0 shutout of University of Santo Tomas (UST) Tigresses at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on Wednesday.
With its ninth straight win, Adamson could win the title outright with a sweep of the eliminations and match their run last season.
Adamson will only have to beat in its last assignment on Saturday, the University of the Philippines (UP) side, which lost to UE, 9-0, also on Wednesday.
The Lady Falcons are favored over the Lady Maroons. Adamson won a 5-0 shutout victory over the Diliman-based batters in the first round.
The loss was UP’s seventh in nine games, while UE improved to 6-3.
UST dropped to 4-4 ahead of Ateneo (2-7), which sent De La Salle to its ninth straight loss, 8-3, on Wednesday.
