Birthday boy Nash lifts Lakers past 76ers

Steve Nash celebrated his 40th birthday by scoring 19 points as the short-handed Los Angeles Lakers beat the Philadelphia 76ers 112-98 for their second straight victory.

Center Chris Kaman and guard-forward Wesley Johnson added 17 points for Los Angeles (18-32).

Center Spencer Hawes and forward Thaddeus Young had 15 points each to pace the Sixers (15-36), who have lost five straight.

Cavaliers 115, Wizards 113

Guard Dion Waiters scored 24 points and point guard Kyrie Irving had 23 points and matched his career-high 12 assists as the Cleveland Cavaliers snapped a six-game losing streak with a 115-113 victory over the Washington Wizards.

Forward C.J Miles scored 18 points for the Cavaliers (17-33), who fended off a Washington rally in the final minutes. The victory came one day after the Cavaliers fired general manager Chris Grant.

Guard John Wall had 12 of his 32 points in the final 4:22 of the fourth quarter for the Wizards (24-25).

Knicks 117, Nuggets 90

The New York Knicks ended their three-game losing streak by turning back the Denver Nuggets 117-90 at Madison Square Garden. Forward Carmelo Anthony paced the Knicks (20-30) with 31 points and forward Amar'e Stoudemire added 17 points.

Denver (24-24) was led by guard Ty Lawson, who scored 24 points.

The sloppily played game featured a combined 44 turnovers and 44 fouls.

Mavericks 103, Jazz 81

Mavericks guard Monta Ellis and All-Star forward Dirk Nowitzki combined for 42 points, as Dallas cruised to an easy 103-81 win over the slumping Utah Jazz.

The Mavericks (30-21) had four players score in double figures, led by Ellis' 22 and 20 from Nowitzki in only 26 minutes.

Jazz (16-33) forward Marvin Williams scored a team-high 21, but didn't have a point in the second half.

The Mavericks have won four in a row while Utah is going in the opposite direction, losing four straight.

Clippers 118, Raptors 105

Blake Griffin continued his offensive onslaught and the Los Angeles Clippers settled down in the fourth quarter to snap a two-game losing streak with a 118-105 victory over the Toronto Raptors.

Griffin, the Clippers' All-Star forward, had 36 points and eight rebounds. Guard Jamal Crawford added 21 and center DeAndre Jordan had 18 and 13 rebounds for Los Angeles (35-18).

Guard DeMar DeRozan had 36 points and 8 assists and guard Kyle Lowry added 19 points for the Raptors (26-24), who lost their past four games in Los Angeles.
