UFC's White says Condit accepted Diaz rematch
MANILA, Philippines – UFC president Dana White said Carlos Condit accepted the rematch offer against Nick Diaz, contrary to earlier reports.
White said on MMA Fighting that Condit accepted the proposal for a rematch and would travel to Las Vegas on Friday to finalize the deal.
"The rumor is true. Carlos did accept the fight today and Carlos is coming on Friday not [Thursday]," he said.
Condit’s manager Malki Kawa earlier said his fighter was looking forward to face UFC welterweight champion Georges St.-Pierre instead of a rematch against Diaz.
Condit frustrated Diaz over the weekend by adopting a counterstriking strategy instead of his usual forward action.
After five rounds, ringside judges scored the bout 49-46, 49-46, 48-47 to award Condit a unanimous decision.
The verdict, however, has become controversial such that Diaz threatened to retire over what he claimed to be “unfair judging.”
