'Bigfoot' wants rematch vs Cain
MANILA, Philippines – Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva admitted being interested in facing his tormentor, UFC heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez, again following his emphatic knockout victory over Dutch giant Alistair Overeem.
Silva said in Bloody Elbow that if he could choose his next opponent, he’d pick Velasquez.
“If I could choose, I would pick Cain,” said the Brazilian fighter. "He's a great champion. He's a great person – very humble.”
During their first meeting in UFC 146, Silva lost to a faster Velasquez by technical knockout in the first round.
“When we first faced off, I didn't get much of a chance to fight. He had the right strategy,” remembers Silva.
“My forehead was cut open few seconds into the fight. I was struggling to try to see. I wasn't having any success. So I was left knowing I could have done better.”
Silva said he won’t make the same mistake again if he gets another chance at the Mexican-American champion.
He, however, admitted that it’s up to the UFC if they will grant him a title shot against Velasquez.
"I am a UFC employee, so I don't choose my opponents. My job is to train, stay healthy physically and mentally, and show my best in the cage.”
