MANILA – LA Tenorio is asking Barangay Ginebra’s veterans Mark Caguioa and Jayjay Helterbrand to dictate their pace when they meet San Mig Coffee in Game 7 of the PBA Philippine Cup semis.

Tenorio said the partnership of “The Fast and the Furious” will help the team as they go for the clincher in their best-of-seven series.

"I think, mas gusto ko na towards the end game, na kay Mark or Jayjay ang bola," Tenorio said in an interview with Spin.ph’s Richard Dy. "They know what to do, been there and done that, so marami silang puwedeng gawin."

But first, he said they need to find ways to get the ball to either Caguioa or Helterbrand.

The Mixers have vastly improved their defense and have engaged the Gin Kings in several down-the-wire finishes in the semifinals.

"I told him (Caguioa), he really needs to get the ball even though (Justin) Melton or whoever is guarding him. I said he needs to find ways to get the ball kasi 'yung mga ganung oras (crunch time), we need Jayjay and we need Mark," said Tenorio.

Tenorio is also aware that a slight mistake in Game 7 could cost them their much-awaited trip to the finals.

The 29-year-old point guard made an end-game blunder in Game 5, when he went for a layup instead of a triple even as their team was lagging by three points. This allowed San Mig Coffee to take a 3-2 lead in the series.

Fortunately, the Gin Kings rallied back in Game 6 after receiving a dose of motivation from former Ginebra coach Robert Jaworski.

Whoever wins Game 7 will face Rain or Shine in the Philippine Cup finals.
