Philippine team Coach Yeng Guiao is eager to see six-foot-nine Japeth Aguilar in action when he arrives in Manila in May after graduating from Western Kentucky University.
Guiao, who had earlier discussed recruiting Japeth with his father and former PBA player Peter Aguilar, said he is confident the NCAA Division I center would be a "big help” to the all-pro PBA national team that will compete in the SEABA and the FIBA Asian Championships.
Guiao said based on his performance and his credentials Aguilar “is going to be the No.1 draft pick.” He said that since his new team Burger King has three first round picks including that of his former team Red Bull in all likelihood, Burger King will have first crack at Aguilar.
In his last game Japeth played quality minutes for the “Hilltoppers” in a key game against South Alabama where he battled the big men off the boards to a 67-59 victory.
Former PBA superstar Abe King who was renowned for his rebounding ability says he has been impressed by Japeth’s performance so far this season and has great hopes for the future of the former Ateneo UAAP standout.
