MANILA, Philippines – MMA fighter Dan Henderson got tired of waiting for a title shot against UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones that he agreed to face Lyoto Machida in the co-main event of UFC 157.

“I'm not frustrated. I'm just happy to be in there fighting again,” Henderson said in Yahoo! Sports

Henderson was supposed to challenge Jones in UFC 151, but was forced to bail out after suffering a knee injury in training. Jones moved on to defeat Vitor Belfort and is now set up for a title defense against Chael Sonnen.

Henderson and the other supposed title contenders will have to wait for their turn.

But at 42, Henderson is already at the twilight of his career.

Getting a title shot is no longer among his top priorities, he said.

“I'm not gonna wait around for a title fight anymore,” said Henderson. “I'm just gonna fight as much as I can.”

Meanwhile, Henderson expects a fun fight from Machida, a former UFC light heavyweight champion. He said that among the challenges he’ll have in Machida is figuring out the Japanese-Brazilian’s unorthodox fighting style.

“It's a fun fight to figure a guy out like that,” said Henderson. “He's not the normal guy, so that always makes it funner for me when it's not always the same guys I've fought over and over again.”

Henderson and Machida will battle it out in the co-main event of UFC 157, which also features Ronda Rousey’s UFC bantamweight title fight against Liz Carmouche.

UFC takes place on February 23 at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California.

ABS-CBN’s Balls Channel will be airing UFC 157 via satellite on Sunday, February 24 starting at 11:30 a.m. Studio 23 will be airing a same day replay of the program.
