'Mighty Mouse' to defend title on TUF finale
MANILA, Philippines – Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight champion Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson for the second time against top contender John Moraga at the finale of the The Ultimate Fighter (TUF).
The UFC announced on their website that the championship bout between Johnson and Moraga has been added to the fight card, which will take place on April 13 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
“Johnson continues to impress and rise up the pound-for-pound ranks with each bout,” the UFC said. “Moraga, looking for his ninth straight victory, has been stellar inside the Octagon so far with impressive stoppages in his last two outings.”
Johnson made history when he became the first UFC flyweight champion after defeating Joseph Benavidez at UFC 152. He defended the belt for the first time against John Dodson at UFC on FOX last January 26, winning via unanimous decision.
Moraga, meanwhile, became the top contender after submitting Chris Cariaso at UFC 155 last December, which won him Submission of the Night honors.
Aside from the featherweight title fight, heavyweights Gabriel Gonzaga and Travis Browne will also be featured in the fight card.
