'Floyd not comfy with Guerrero's fighting style'
MANILA, Philippines – Juan Manuel Marquez said he knows the reason behind Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s preference to fight Devon Alexander instead of mandatory challenger Robert Guerrero.
The Mexican boxer said Mayweather, the WBC welterweight title holder, is not comfortable fighting an aggressive boxer like Guerrero.
Marquez claims the undefeated American "prefers to face someone who is more of a boxer" like IBF champion Alexander.
"Floyd Mayweather is the best fighter in the world, pound for pound, but he never takes any risks," he said in a Boxing Scene report.
Mayweather earlier tweeted that Alexander is the front runner in his list of opponents for his ring return on May 4.
This sparked a negative reaction from the camp of Kell Brook, who was supposed to fight Alexander.
The WBC, meanwhile, called on Mayweather to defend his crown against Guerrero.
