MANILA, Philippines - Nonito "The Filipino Flash" Donaire Jr. on Friday said his team is negotiating for another fight this year against  Vic Darchinyan or Fernando Montiel, both boxing champions.

"Kahit sino. Ako nandito lang talaga ako. Fighter ako eh at naghihintay lang ako (Anyone. I'm just here waiting. I'm a fighter, I'm just waiting [for my next opponent])," Donaire told reporters upon his arrival at the airport in Manila before noon Friday.

Donaire, however, said that if he will be asked to choose between the 2, he would rather fight Montiel, the reigning World Boxing Organization (WBO) bantamweight champion. Montiel is also a former WBO flyweight and junior bantamweight titlist.

Darchinyan, meanwhile, has on his waist the World Boxing Association (WBA) and World Boxing Council (WBC) unified super flyweight belts.

The Filipino Flash said he prefers Montiel because he really wants to move up to the bantamweight division and probably hold 2 titles in separate weight divisions.

He said if he had the chance, he would also want to fight Puerto Rican Eric "Little Hands of Steel” Morel, who won over Filipino Gerry Peñalosa via split decision in the undercard of the Donaire and Vargas clash dubbed Pinoy Power 3.

Aid for Z Gorres

Meanwhile, Donaire said he is scheduled to fly to Cebu province and meet with another Filipino boxer, ZC Oliveros "Z" Gorres, whose boxing career was sidelined by a brain injury.

"I will fly to Cebu to help Z Gorres. May ibibigay ako na tulong sa kanya kahit konti lang," the Filipino Flash told reporters.

Gorres was supposed to be part of the Pinoy Power 3 and fight side by side with Donaire. However, he suffered a brain injury after a heartbreaking win over Colombian Luis Melendez in Las Vegas last November 2009.

Gorres needs to raise at least P26 million (US$562,000) to pay for his hospital bill. He was confined for several months in a Las Vegas hospital because of the brain injury.

Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao has also pledged to extend financial assistance to Gorres. With a report from Dennis Datu, radio dzMM
