Irving lifts Cavaliers over Hornets
MANILA, Philippines – All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving exploded for 20 of his game-high 35 points in the fourth quarter as the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the New Orleans Hornets, 105-100, at home in the Quicken Loans Arena.
Irving added five boards and seven assists as he single-handedly lifted his team to victory.
Irving, who played in the All-Star Game for the first time in his career last weekend, scored 11 straight points to break an 83-all deadlock in the final five minutes.
Six players scored in double figures for the Hornets, led by back-up guard Brian Roberts. Anthony Davis, the top pick in the 2012 NBA Draft, had 12 points and four rebounds.
The Cavaliers’ record improved to 17-37, while the Hornets dropped their 36th game against 19 wins. -- Report from ANC
