MANILA, Philippines - Team captain Yvana Carangan, Bryan Thorp, Francis Mark Tanlu and new protégé Bobby Redpath produced big podium finishes for AUTSRacing in the Sorteo Grand Prix 2013 KF2-KF3 Cup Series kickoff.

Carangan proved her worth as the country’s top female karter, hitting a fast lap time of 48.765 seconds to capture the Formula SL Expert crown.

Making his comeback after missing the last two legs of the national karting series, the 15-year-old Thorp hardly showed rustiness and copped a runner-up feat on his debut in the Formula SL Expert class after wrapping up his Formula SL Novice campaign last year with an overall third place honors.

Tanlu likewise made a promising maiden stint clinching third place in his big leap into Formula SL Novice class after bagging the overall runner-up crown in the Formula Cadet Novice division last season.

And though it was his first competitive race, Redpath displayed exceptional raw skills inherited from his father, circuit racing champ Sean Redpath, as he claimed third place in the Formula Cadet Novice class.

“Their feats only proved their worth as exemplary young racing icons who personify the team’s tradition of racing excellence, much like the Birel Performance Karts that has powered several historic moments and milestone achievements that preserved AUTSRacing’s credibility as a top karting team,” said AUTSRacing team manager Martin Alvendia.

“AUTSRacing has always been known as a team that’s small in number but big in impact. But we’re not closing doors on prospective recruits who have the talent and the drive to make it among the country’s ace karters,” he added.

AUTSRAcing performed well with support from Kipling’s, BIREL Competition Karts, YAMAHA Winforce, Maynilad Water Services, Powerade Ion by Coca-Cola Bottlers, Tube Hotels.com, Team Insider Boxing Gym, Kart Care Lubricants and FreeLine Go Kart Parts.
