KUTA - Filipino star Angelo Que wielded a hot putter on the way to a solid eight-under-par 64 and the clubhouse lead in the first round at the Enjoy Jakarta Indonesia Open on Thursday.

Que, who won the 2008 Philippine Open, blasted eight birdies for a four-stroke lead over compatriot Antonio Lascuna who was in a tie for second alongside Australia's Tony Lascuna and Andrew Dodt, Scotland's Richie Ramsay, England's Simon Khan and Welshman Jamie Donaldson.

Indonesia's top golfer Rory Hie shot a 70 to lie in a tie for 15th place while Sweden's Daniel Chopra carded a 73 to lie in joint 47th spot at the New Kuta Golf Resort on the island of Bali.

Despite a two-hour delay due to inclement weather in the morning, Que conquered the greens thanks to an impressive 20 putts at the par-72 championship course.

"I made 20 putts today. I've never done that before, probably only in a computer game. I had made a 23 or 24 before so this is a very nice result," said Que.

"There are still three more rounds to go. There are a lot of good players out there. I am leading by four shots and if I can keep my distance from the guys behind me, I'll be happy."

Australian Dodt, who had six top-10 finishes last season, nailed a 68 as he hopes to continue his steady form this year.

"I had a slow start but I came back with four birdies on the back nine. Hopefully I can finish well again tomorrow," said Dodt, who finished runner-up at the Hana Bank Vietnam Masters last year.

Sweden's Chopra, with two wins on the US PGA Tour, battled the gusting wind at the New Kuta Golf Resort for a 73.

"It was pretty breezy out there at times, which obviously made life more difficult. The way it's blowing, almost every hole plays into the wind. So it was hard to get it close. But never mind, tomorrow's another day," said Chopra.

Using a nine iron, Spain's Rafael Cabrera Bello aced the par three 15th hole for a 71 to lie in a tie for 27th position.

Defending champion Felipe Aquilar was three over after 16 holes before play was suspended due to darkness. A total of 42 players will resume the first round early Friday.
