MANILA, Philippines – Filipino light-flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes supports super bantamweight champion Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire’s campaign to clean up the sport of boxing.

“Mabuhay si Nonito,” Nietes said in a statement released to PhilBoxing.

“I am proud to be with him in his quest for a drug-free fight game,” he added.

Nietes told Phil Boxing that he is willing to take drug tests for his upcoming fight against Mexican Moises Fuentes, as well as for all his future fights.

Donaire is the only active fighter who has submitted himself to 24/7, year-round drug testing that is conducted by the Voluntary Anti-Doping Agency (VADA).

“The Filipino Flash” also recently announced that he will ask his future opponents to undergo VADA drug testing after a misunderstanding with his April 13 opponent, Guillermo Rigondeaux of Cuba.

“I will mandate my opponent to enroll in drug testing before I agree to any fights. Performance enhancing drugs have become rampant in sports and need to be addressed,” Donaire said.

Nietes will defend his World Boxing Organization light-flyweight champion against Fuentes in the main event of Pinoy Pride XVIII on March 2 at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City.
