Servania, Villanueva make weight for Pinoy Pride XXIV
MANILA – Filipino boxers Genesis “Azukal” Servania and “King” Arthur Villanueva made weight for their respective bouts in Pinoy Pride XXIV this weekend.
Servania, who remains unbeaten in 23 fights, weighed in at 121 pounds. His opponent, former WBA super flyweight world champion Alexander "El Explosivo" Muñoz of Venezuela tipped the scales at the super bantamweight division limit of 122 pounds.
At stake in their 12-round bout is Servania’s WBO Intercontinental belt.
Muñoz, a veteran fighter with 36 wins, 5 losses, and 28 knockout wins under his belt, said he will be banking on his experience to beat Servania.
"I was already thinking about retirement after losing to Leo Santa Cruz. I was working on my business in Venezuela," Muñoz said in Rene Bosubre’s Philboxing report
"But when I got the offer to fight and being a warrior, I accepted." "This will be a good fight on Saturday. My advantage is that I have a lot of experience in championship fights. I feel good, I feel strong. I have the experience and I am more than ready to fight."
Meanwhile, Villanueva who will figure in a 10-round non-title fight against Fernando Aguilar weighed in at 116 pounds. Aguilar, who came in as a late replacement for injured boxer Juan Hernandez, also came in at 116 pounds.
"Prince" Albert Pagara and his Indonesian foe Isack Junior both weighed 122 pounds for their 10-round non-title contest.
Pinoy Pride XXIV will take place at the Solaire Resort and Casino on Saturday. It will be aired on ABS-CBN Channel 2 starting 10 a.m. on Sunday.
