Boosters prevail in low-scoring game vs Express

MANILA – Petron Blaze prevailed in a low-scoring game against Air21 to gain solo second in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum on Friday.

Renaldo Balkman scored 25 points to help the Boosters eke out a 60-53 win over the Express. He also collared 13 rebounds.

According to PBA Connect, the scores are among the lowest outputs of the respective basketball clubs.

Petron's 60 points is the lowest winning score in the team’s history. It is also the sixth lowest in PBA records.

The Express’ 53 points, meanwhile, is the lowest in the franchise’s history and the seventh lowest in league history.

Petron’s win, however, gave the team solo second place in the league standings with 4-1.

Air21, meanwhile, joined Barangay Ginbera at the cellar at 1-4.

The league website said the Boosters were able to hold down the Express to just 27.6% field goal shooting.

Arwind Santos provided able scoring support to Balkman, registering 11 points and 10 rebounds.

Import Michael Dunigan was the only Express who scored double digits with 15 points to go with his 23 rebounds.
