Mexican boxing legend Barrera arrives in Cebu
MANILA – Mexican boxing legend Marco Antonio Barrera arrived Thursday in the Philippines to watch the bout between Filipino junior flyweight champion Donnie “Ahas” Nietes and Mexico’s Moises Fuentes.
Philboxing’s Mike Angel Lopez reported that the “Baby-Faced Assassin” arrived yesterday in Cebu at 6:45 p.m.
Upon arrival, he headed to the house of Don Antonio Aldeguer, whose son Michael Aldeguer handles ALA Boxing promotions.
Nietes will be defending his WBO junior flyweight title against Fuentes in Pinoy Pride XVIII.
Barrera’s brother Jorge is Fuentes’ boxing manager.
The Nietes-Fuentes fight will take place at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino on Saturday.
It will be aired the next day on ABS-CBN Channel 2.
The two boxers made the weight limit for their 12-round fight during the official weigh-in on Friday.
Nietes and Fuentes both weighed in at the division limit of 108 pounds.
