E-Painters face revitalized Gin Kings
MANILA, Philippines – Rain or Shine will go for a share of second place in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup when it takes on Barangay Ginebra at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Sunday.
But the Elasto Painters will have their hands full when they face a confident Gin Kings squad that ravaged Barako Bull, 93-72, last Wednesday.
Rain or Shine barely made it against Air21, 99-97, and coach Yeng Guiao hopes the team will not make the same mistakes that it did against the Express.
“Our import was in foul trouble most of the second half, played little minutes and eventually fouled out,” said Guiao in the PBA website.
If they win, they will regain joint second with Petron Blaze at 4 wins against 1 defeat.
Ginebra coach Alfrancis Chua, meanwhile, is confident that their newly acquired import Vernon Macklin can match up against Rain or Shine’s 7’3” Bruno Sundov.
“'Yung strength ni Macklin malakas mamasa. Nag-a-assist siya at malaking bagay 'yun para sa mga locals,” said Chua.
“Malaking bagay din 'yung meron kayong import na hindi bumibigay. Siguro mas gaganda pa ang laro namin,” he added.
Chua hopes they could make it two in a row, after having a rough sailing with their previous import Herbert Hill in their first four games.
