Cavaliers give LeBron a night off, then lose to Bucks
MILWAUKEE, Wisconsin – Cleveland coach Mike Brown chose to give NBA scoring leader LeBron James a night off on Saturday and the Cavaliers paid the price with a 92-85 loss at Milwaukee.
Brandon Jennings scored 25 points, Carlos Delfino added 16 and Australian Andrew Bogut added 15 points as the Bucks seized an 11-point lead after the first quarter and a 69-61 edge entering the fourth quarter.
Antawn Jamison scored 30 points and Delonte West added 27 to lead the Cavaliers, but no other player scored more than seven points for Cleveland, which saw the NBA's best record fall to 49-15.
James, averaging an NBA-best 30 points a game, has averaged 30.1 points in 25 career matchups against Milwaukee and had led the Cavaliers in scoring for 16 games in a row.
Brown wanted to give his top playmaker a night off a night after James tweaked his right ankle in a 40-point performance in a win over Detroit, but stressed that James was healthy and could have played.
"He has played a lot of minutes for us. I just felt it would be good for him and for the team to hold him out," Brown said.
"He's a competitive person. He wants to be out there. Sometimes I listen to him. Sometimes I won't."
The Bucks, sixth in the Eastern Conference at 33-29, won for the 15th time in their past 19 games.
